"It has been a year since I have started my 6 month contract at XXX, and even longer since we had a proper conversation. I trust all is well with you and that life is treating you kindly.
The original contract with XXX has now been extended twice and I am managing a global Pensions and Benefits project at this stage. The role requires a significant amount of travel which impacts on family life but generally affords me the opportunity to get familiar with many aspects and areas of the business. Working as an independent contractor and having re-tooled in the project management space is affording me the opportunity to explore a number of new opportunities. The detail of what I will be doing in 6 months time is still lacking but at this stage I have a vague promise of more work at XXX and also a firm offer to head up a Programme Management Office for a very large scale SAP project in South Africa. I am not yet decided on the latter as it will take us back to SA for some 2 to 3 years but will keep you posted on any developments.
The summary is that life has moved on for me and when I reflect on the process you have assisted me with and all I feel is deep gratitude for your guidance and wise council at the time. It is still very much appreciated on both a personal and professional level…
