Networking

There is no hidden agenda in networking and we all know how important it is. You are simply trying to get advice, guidance, information, ideas and names. You are not asking your network for a job and you should never intimate that you are. We will work with you to develop more subtle methods, take advantage of the social media tools available and, where possible, to meet appropriate decision makers.

Networking is about:

  • creating strong connections, keeping in touch, following up and forming win–win alliances;
  • maintaining connections with past and present colleagues; and
  • expanding your sphere of influence.

Building a network takes time and effort and good networkers:

  • treat their networks and the connections they have made with respect and integrity;
  • realise that every stranger has the potential to become an important connection within their network; and
  • understand that networking is not just something you do when you want something.

Remember, always value your networks, if you don’t, you won’t have them for long.

Networking Strategies:

Networking is a life-long project and our aim is to give you the understanding and tools. We incorporate networking strategies in all our programs by:

  • establishing a network of industry experts willing to share advice
  • guiding yourself on how to create new connections
  • helping you to make an impact when you have the chance to meet the decision maker
  • offering access to our main database of over 40,000 Australian companies
  • hosting a number of business luncheons and networking opportunities throughout the year, details of which are published in our newsletter.
  • sharing our networking developed with several associations and insitutions such as Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Institute of Management, Australian Institute of Marketing, Hunter Chamber of Commerce, The Committee on Economic Development Australia, Australian Institute of Travel & Tourism, Executives Online Australia and Business Networking International.
